Biography:
Zhu Bajie, also known as Pigsy, is a prominent character in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. He first appears early in the story as a disgraced immortal.
Originally named Marshal Tianpeng, he was a commander in the Heavenly army. After drunkenly flirting with the moon goddess Chang'e, he was banished to the mortal realm. Due to a mishap during his reincarnation, he was reborn as a pig-monster.
He is eventually recruited by the bodhisattva Guanyin to join the pilgrimage to the West, led by the Tang Monk Xuanzang. As a member of the group, along with Sun Wukong and Sha Wujing, Zhu Bajie serves as a foil to the more virtuous characters, often driven by his gluttony, lust, and laziness. Despite his flaws, he is a valuable member of the team, possessing magical abilities and contributing to their adventures.
